About This Blog

I decided to write this blog as a means of therapy.  My name is Joe Weiner, and I am a practicing immigration attorney that deals with a wide variety of immigration issues on a daily basis – which necessarily involves dealing with America’s immigration bureaucracy as well.  This is not just one bureaucracy – I should be so lucky!  Immigration attorneys have to routinely deal with four different federal agencies: the Department of Homeland Security (and its three sub-agencies, U.S. Citizen and Immigration Services, U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement, and U.S. Customs and Border Protection), the Department of Justice, the Department of Labor, and the Department of State.  Seeing how each of these federal agencies operate and determine immigration policy is a source of great frustration to myself and to many other sane and rational immigration attorneys - who often can’t remain sane and rational very long in this field.  I wanted to start this blog as an outlet for the stress and aggaravation associated with being an immigration attorney that has to deal with government crap on a daily basis.  I’d like to also use this blog as a way to educate anyone who’s interested in what immigration in the United States is really all about; not the distorted jumble of half-truths one often gets from the talking heads on CNN or Fox News, but an accurate picture from someone that has an insider’s view of what’s going on.  If I’m able to change just one person’s views on immigration through this site, I’ll be able to retire a happy blogger.  Just one more thing (and I’m sorry I have to say this, but I am an attorney) - please be aware that the information on this site is just that – information, and it is not to be construed as legal advice, nor does it create any sort of attorney-client relationship with me or anyone else.  Anyone reading this blog that has an immigration problem should seek the advise of a qualified immigration attorney as soon possible.
